智利國鐵（EFE） 20日驚傳發生火車相撞意外，一列採用中國鐵路技術試運轉的客運列車和民間鐵路公司載運銅礦的貨運列車發生相撞，釀成2死9傷的慘劇。

路透報導，這起意外發生在首都聖地牙哥近郊的聖貝爾納多（San Bernardo）地區。EFE的試運轉客運列車於20日午夜過後不久，撞上了載有1346噸銅礦、正朝北行駛的Fepasa民間鐵路公司的貨運列車。據悉，試運轉客運列車當時正在進行速度測試，車上則有10名工作人員。

當地檢察官阿拉維納（Pedro Aravena）表示，出於不明原因，試運轉客運列車完全不知道路線上有貨運列車正在向北行駛，列車的GPS系統直到相撞都還保持開啟狀態。而傷者中包括4名進行測試的中國技術人員，雖然傷勢相當嚴重，但並無生命危險，2名死者則分別為貨運列車的司機與他的助手，目前已有2名智利國鐵的職員已遭到拘留。
