以色列文化遺產部長5日表示，向加薩投核彈是可能選項。這番言論掀起軒然大波，以色列總理納坦雅胡無限期暫停他出席內閣會議的職權。

耶路撒冷郵報（The Jerusalem Post）報導，以色列文化遺產部長埃利亞胡（Amihai Eliyahu）5日接受以色列電台訪問時被問到，向加薩走廊投擲核彈是否是以色列該採取的作法，他回答說：「這是可以採取的可能做法之一」。

當被提醒有240多名人質被關在加薩時，埃利亞胡還說他會祈禱他們返回，但「戰爭也是有代價的」。不過他之後部分撤回言論，表示向加薩丟核彈是「象徵性」的說法。

以色列總理辦公室針對埃利亞胡的「丟核彈」爭議性言論發出聲明回應說：「埃利亞胡部長的發言與現實脫節。以色列與以色列國防軍（IDF）遵循最高的國際標準進行軍事行動，避免傷及無辜。我們將按照同標準繼續行動，直到獲得勝利。」

以色列國防部長加蘭特也譴責埃利亞胡的「毫無根據的言論」，並補充說他不是以色列安全的負責人，這很好。

納坦雅胡宣布「無限期」暫停艾里雅胡出席內閣會議。外界公認以色列持有核彈，但以色列或者以色列的盟友從未公開正式承認過。
