在阿富汗政府軍擔任陸軍中將的薩達特（Sami Sadat）25日投書《紐約時報》，標題以「今年，我指揮了阿富汗部隊：我們被賣掉了」（I Commanded Afghan Troops This Year. We Were Betrayed.），談論在過去幾個月裡，被美國軍隊拋下的感受。

薩達特指出，過去三個半月以來，於阿富汗南方的赫爾曼德省晝夜匪懈地戰鬥，與發動血腥攻勢的神學士作戰。在多次進擊之下，部隊擊退了神學士。其後他被調到首都喀布爾指揮特種部隊，然而，神學士已進入這個城市，一切都已經來得太遲了。

他分析阿富汗政府挫敗的原因。其一，從川普政府到拜登政府，美國與神學士達成的協議注定了阿富汗的命運；其二，阿富汗軍隊失去關鍵的糧食、燃料後勤支援，專用軟體和武器系統也被拆除，情報也斷訊；其三，賈尼政府的貪汙腐敗從中央延伸到軍隊，長期弱化在地部隊，導致今天無法挽回的局面。神學士戰士僅用粗糙的武器就席捲整個阿富汗，因為阿富汗軍隊在美軍撤離之後，失去了所有可以作戰的工具。

阿富汗人不願為自己而戰？

他不滿美國總統拜登所說，「阿富汗軍隊不願為自己而奮戰，美軍更不應該加入這場戰爭」，他的部隊有數百名官兵亡於戰事，許多人英勇、光榮地為保家衛國獻出生命，卻被美國、阿富汗的領導階級辜負。

美國軍隊撤離的時候，還有許多軍隊與神學士展開戰鬥，同時感到強烈的挫敗感、被長年戰友拋下的感覺，「我們的士兵聽到美軍戰機的聲音，卻不願意提供支援」。最後幾天，他與其他士兵英勇地堅守阿富汗南部Lashkar Gah據點，而阿富汗其他地方一個接一個投降。

被政治與總統出賣

阿富汗政府軍士氣瞬間喪失，軍人失去前進的動力。即使他帶領的部隊在首都淪陷仍繼續戰鬥，大勢卻已不可挽回，阿富汗總統賈尼也流亡他國，「政治與總統出賣了我們」。

薩達特表示，阿富汗戰爭是一場國際戰爭，許多國家都加入戰場，單靠阿富汗的軍隊難以擔起整場戰爭，「這是一場軍事的失敗，但起源於政治失敗」。

賈尼倉促逃跑讓政府軍感到錯愕，也影響了後續控制喀布爾並引導疏散的能力，誘發了混亂的場面，喀布爾機場也發生了令人絕望的場景（恐怖攻擊）。

最能打仗的阿富汗將領

根據資料，薩達特今年36歲，是政府軍在阿富汗南部最高級別的將領，而阿富汗南部則又是神學士勢力最龐大的區域，在過去他除了拿起武器對抗神學士以外，還頻頻在推特等社交媒體上發言，對抗神學士的宣傳攻勢。

薩達特畢業於倫敦國王學院，回到阿富汗後在內政部任職，之後又被派往德國、英國、波蘭和美國訓練，接著在阿富汗情報部門任職。他在情報部門的同袍描述薩達特「非常有戰略眼光而且很能分析當下情況」。

在神學士奪下喀布爾之前，他率領約有15000人的馬萬德215部隊（215th Maiwand army corps）在阿富汗南部對抗神學士長達11個月。

在他設立的馬萬德215部隊推特帳號當中，記錄了與神學士交戰的過程，例如在8月期間，薩達特率軍強攻坎達哈東邊，神學士的據點拉什卡爾加（Lashkar Gah），8月7日打死276名恐怖分子，8月8日在24小時內就擊斃54名神學士。

8月5日的肅清行動當中，薩達特率特種部隊突擊神學士據點，短短幾小時內就擊斃數十名神學士戰士，馬萬德部隊在推特上稱，「沒有恐怖分子能逃掉，因為都會先死」。

薩達特8月初接受《BBC》採訪時才斬釘截鐵表示，神學士絕對不可能贏。薩達特過去一個月以來實際上拿不少軍事勝利，無怪乎對於中央政府突然倒台異常錯愕。

薩達特7月才率軍奪回Garmsir、尼姆茲等，而在更早5月時，他率領的部隊也成功多次以直升機空襲打擊神學士據點，並且擊殺神學士Washir區域指揮官Mawlawi Keramat。薩達特部隊所展示的並不如之後國際媒體報導，阿富汗政府軍很沒用般見到神學士就拋槍投降。
