美國貿易代表戴琪（Katherine Tai ）29日宣布，美國將立即暫停與緬甸所有的貿易與投資往來，禁令持續到民選政府當政為止。

緬甸軍政府在27日軍人節，一面歡欣慶祝，一面血腥鎮壓抗議人士，當日114人喪命，有兒童被當場射殺，更有人被活活燒成焦黑的屍骨。

緬甸軍方隔日在仰光市區，以實彈掃射示威者的喪禮，向街上投擲手榴彈，夜間空襲克倫邦少數民族的村落。

美國總統拜登（Joe Biden）28日表示，緬甸發生的事件「令人髮指」。美英日韓等超過10個國家齊聲譴責軍政府的行為。

根據2013年美緬的《貿易暨投資架構協定》（TIFA），美國暫停與緬甸的所有貿易往來，立即生效，持續到民選政府回歸。
